Wora Bura Beach Resort Hua hin - quick summary

Now about 10 days since had the dinner and night at the new Wora Bura resort, will do a detailed review later, for the moment suffice to say the new Wora Bura Resort & Spa in Hua Hin ( for those who know the other hotels/resorts ) is " Sofitel meets Hyatt Regency ", although was still being completed the place is superb and will no doubt become famous fairly quick, old world 1900's facade and amazing room design. Anyone making plans for later in the year well worth looking at this one. I really liked it! Just past the Chiva Som and Hyatt Regency, garden pools, 1900's design but with high tech equipment. $90 at the moment for soft opening, peaks for deluxe over Nov to mid April $ 160, down to $ 99-112 from mid April. It will certainly give Sofitel/Hyatt etc a good run!

This was interesting because a couple of days later we had lunch at the Evason Hideaway at Pranburi, a $ 295 a night pool villa place, such a contrst of styles, Evason very plain walls, very nice but modern minimalist again, their certain kind of style, which although nice felt somewhat 'charmless and sterile', whereas the Wora Bura had old paintings and old world drawings, dark wooden panels, creme and maroon drapes, quite stunning, if only it had been finished on time! They have not gone the Rachamanka type style but exactly the opposite for the unashamed 'splendour' style, right down to the bell hop uniforms, right out of the early 1900's. Not easy to do this and still be a beach hotel but they've done it!
The web pictures just don't do it justice at the moment.

Wow factor ratings:
Wora Bura : 9/10

Evason : 2/10

I never finished this really, after the Wora Bura free night we went a few minutes to our usual the Ocean Breeze at Khao Takiab Bay ( about USD 30 but rates for high season are now up in the USD 40-60 region, but good for anyone who likes Boutique B&B type place fairly near the beach with great service ! )and then went 30 minutes down to the Lawana, we had not stayed at Lawana before, about USD 30 a night for all of us, very basic accom but a/c with h/c shower, not a great beach area but was near the wetlands and we wanted to do the kayaks, this is not a good beach area but hence how we were at the Evason for lunch as not far away.
