I felt more comfortable booking a guide ahead of time that other Fodorites had used so I booked Ponheary, who was highly recommended. Our package that we booked through Residence d'Angkor included the service of a guide for one day....I specifically asked ahead of time that they employ Ponheary, who has done many wonderful things for children in her community, and through emails, they agreed that we would use their driver and her as a guide. When we checked in, the reception acted as if we could not use her, but after arguing and showing them our emails, they agreed. We had booked her for one other day, besides the one that was included with our package. We thought she did a fine job, spoke English very well, but I have nothing to compare her to. She has been featured in a documentary here in the States for her work with children, but I forgot what network it was on....National Geographic, perhaps?
