Women's clothes for October
Please advise as to what to wear for daytime touring. I read that women should not wear shorts and then some say it is OK. Thanks for any help as I intend to pack in a carry on.

I would not wear shorts,as a woman, in India out of respect to their religious customs. I usually travel there in cotton capris, or cropped pants. Long pants get dusty/ dirty on the hems. Even out to dinner in upscale places you will be ok with crop pants. I did buy a few pairs of their leggings, but was always careful to wear a tunic top over them. Their leggings are a looser knit and fit than ours....comfy.

we went to Sri Lanka in September last year where there are the same sort of religious sensitivities and a similar climate. I felt most comfortable in capris - I am past the age when shorts look good and capris are much cooler than trousers, and IMO leggings are too tight to be cool - literally or metaphorically. 3 pairs should be enough - one to wear, one to wash, one to pack.
a skirt for the evenings would be useful - cooler and the capris can be drying. one in a material that you can scrunch or roll up is ideal as it won't show the creases. add a few silk/cotton tops that wash and dry quickly and you're good to go. |
Thanks for the info. Can tops be sleeveless.

Yes, sleeveless tops are fine.

Good fun and useful to buy tunic tops in India. Anokhi is a good place.
|
Is Anokhi located in Delhi?
|
There are several Anokhis in Delhi. Actually, Anokhi stores are just about everywhere in India. Fab India is another fun chain store.
