The NYT today has a marvelous article written by Paul Theroux about travel to those places people tell you not to go...

There is a famous quote by someone (Mark Twain, perhaps?) that says something along the line of "It's hard to remain prejudiced if you have a fat passport". (Though those aren't the exact words.) I'd like to add that it's also difficult to remain stupid if you have a fat passport. We all learn while traveling whether we like it or not - lol!
