Lol, sounds like you dress like a tourist, Bob. Do you sport a gut, with money belt and docksiders?

Clark55 Oct 3rd, 2009 11:17 AM

Thanks Bob and everyone, another problem ticked off. We leave on Thursday and are covering Delhi, Varanasi, Agra, Rajastan, then finaly a weeks relax at the Park Hyatt Goa (Bob we are also big fans of Thailand so will tell you our experience in Goa) before a couple of days in Mumbai before we fly home.

Mango - you really need to look at some of Bob's photos - there are several links to them on various threads on this forum...

An interesting exercise is to read thru the post and note the epic retail therapy. I'm amazed they weren't touring in a semi-trailer by the end of it.

Thanks for bringing it up to the top, Bob.

great report....do I see another trip to India in your near future?.
This time you'll know what to expect...can't wait to see what you will focus on...and you'll be able to focus on all the good history there is to soak in. As usual, I know you'll make the most of your trip.

Fodorites have a wealth of reccos about heritage hotels which are a delight to experience. Of course there is the food...Indian foods of many regional flavors all slightly different from each other.

rhkkmk Dec 13th, 2009 06:31 AM

someone wrote to me yesterday and asked for this report so i brought it to the top...

i had hoped for a return to india next fall but i am finding the current airfares from thailand way to high...if they come down i may do delhi/varinasi/kathmandu, as inspired by craig and jeane....

now magical if you would agree to lead a trip to india, many fodorites would join you... margaret could be the official photographer??

I think it is definitely time for you and Karen to return to India...

(Now why do I have "Return to Sender" in my brain now?

Still think a photo of you dipping into the Ganges in an orange dhoti would beat gpanda's speedo shot!

hawaiiantraveler Aug 25th, 2010 12:33 PM

We would follow you into India.....

rhkkmk Aug 25th, 2010 03:57 PM

i am trying how and when we can return....i await kathie's experiences first...

kerela interests me too and K really wants to visit varanasi...

rhkkmk Sep 29th, 2010 06:07 PM

i have a rough outline for a trip in the fall of 2011... mostly in the north again but all new places except delhi and neemrana, which will be return visits...

dgunbug Sep 29th, 2010 07:15 PM

Bob - we will probably be in Varnasi around the same time as you. Mike says we can share a car and he will drive!

rhkkmk Sep 5th, 2011 07:35 PM

update: we leave in 6 weeks for slightly less than one month in India again. we start in kolkata and make stops heading westward to Bikner, with 5 days in kathmandu.

i hope this visit will cement a new view of India in my mind. we look forward to the visit.

watch for my new trip report starting in mid-october, 2011. the trip starts out in thailand first, as usual, and concludes in delhi Nov 30.

magical Sep 5th, 2011 07:50 PM
