Why don't travelers take day trips to Phi Phi and Similian Islands??
 

We will be in Phuket in late March and many boat operators offer day trips to Phi Phi Islands (8 hours with 2-3 hours snorkeling at 2-3 spots) and 1 day (10 hour trips with 2-3 hours) snorkeling as well. The Foder's book and other books speak highly of the snorkeling in both locations but I would like your experiences on either trip. We are avid snorkeler's and our last visit to Phuket in 2001 the local snorkeling was fair at best. Need HELP!

The Similian Islands are much further than Phi Phi, Phi Phi has hoardes of day trippers, some go for snorkeling, others just to look around, there are countless trips. Take a look at www.phuketgazette.net as there is upated information of the coral situation and snorkeling recently.

I'm also considering this trip for early March next year. Have you heard, is the snorkeling any better in the Similan Islands vs Phi Phi vs Ko Tao during that time of year?

My husband and I are avid divers. And we thought the water around Similan islands was fantastic. Havent been to Phi Phi thus cant compare. The boat ride from Phuket is long but definitely worth it if you ask me.

Hermie; I have heard the Similian's are better than Phi Phi Islands. But we are avid snorkeler's and have 5 days in Phuket (our secind visit) so I plan to devote a day for each trip.
But, I really would like a recommendation of reliable "fast boat" company that takes 10-15 snorlker's not 30+. I rather pay $30-$40/person/trip more to get quality trip trips.
Need recent experience and contact info. HELP!
