Which Novotel Hotel in Beijing?

I'm considering either the Novotel Xinqiao or Novotel Peace Hotel in Beijing. Which one is nicer and best location? Are they both recently remodeled? Does anyone know the difference in size between Superior (Standard) or Deluxe rooms? There doesn't seem to be much price difference between these two room categories. Thank you for your help.

In 2002, my wife and I stayed at the Novotel Peace Hotel which is closer to the Forbidden City and other attractions than the other Novotel Hotel. We stayed at the upper floor of the east building. I believe we had a deluxe room which is quite nice. At that time, the room was recently renovated. I believe the difference between a standard room and deluxe room is in the floor location. I don't believe there is a difference in size.

We definitely recommend Novotel Peace Hotel based on our experience in Nov. 2002, provided the hotel is still run by the French.

Thank you lxchiang. Do you recall if your deluxe room was a corner room as pictured on their website?

Our room definitely was not a corner room. The room has ceiling to floor window for the entire width of the room. It was above the 10th floor.

By the way their buffet breakfast was excellent.

yes, go with the Peace hotel. It is close by to the main sights. We stayed in the category one up from standard...delux? We insisted on a non-smoking room which is a good idea even if you are a smoker. The room itself was nothing special. It was clean, recently upgraded (although remember we're talking about China) and the location can't be beat. Just outside the hotel, facing the street, if you walk left (AWAY from Wangfuju Street) you will find a a cute little outdoor resturant. Cheap beer, great dishes. It is all that is left of a traditional courtyard. This was 2 years ago. Might not be there now as things are changing FAST in Beijing.
