Which hotel in Hong Kong for 5 days ?
My girlfriend and I are going to HK in October. It's our first time so I'm bewildered by the sheer choice. I am looking to spend no more than £90 per room/night.
We want easy access to the attractions, and a degree of luxury/modernity. Any help please ?

Mick,
Try the Salisbury YMCA in Kowloon. Clean, modern rooms, with all the amenities of a good hotel, fabulous location, good value(especially if you get a harbor view room on a high floor), with prices significantly lower than the luxury hotels on either side of it.
Les

Consider Conrad, Mariot, or Island Shangri-la (they're located together) in the Admiralty district. They all offer some degree of "luxury". If possible, try to get a room with harbour view. The hotels are attached to the Pacific Place Mall. Short walking distance to the MTR, bus, or tram.

Mick> These days, £90 can go a long ways in Hong Kong. In addition to the above posts, I'd also suggest some hotels in the Causeway Bay area close to shops, entertainment, dining and transportation.

Try the Regal Hong Kong Hotel -- probably around HK$800/night. A smaller hote -- Best Western Rosedale -- just opened up. Very new, but smallish rooms for HK$510/night (around £45). Or you could try the Renaissance Harbourview Hotel on the waterfront in Wanchai (although not quite as convenient in terms of transportation.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi:
I was in Hong Kong in April and stayed at the Lee Garden/Star Hotel on Cameron Rd, centrally located in Kowloon. The cost was US $35 for a single. The rooms were small but immaculate. The manager, Charlie Chan, can be reached at [email protected] You can book directly on the web site geocities.com/starguesthouse/info
Lynda
You can book your hotel directly on

I have tried several budget hotels in hong kong. Like B.P. hotel in hongkong, which is in Tsim Sha Tsui area but very closed to the Jodan subway station. it's around US$50, much much better than hostel. it's not the matter of service or facilities, but the issue for security and the-easy-to-find-location. And you can book your room on-line.. You can try a website like this http://www.hotelinhongkong.net
