We will be in Bangkok middle of April for three nights. Looking at these hotels as we can get a good corporate rate. Which one do you recommend for best location to shopping, sights etc....we have a 9 year old son, so will also want to use hotel pool for part of the day. Our choices are:

-JW Marriott Bangkok
-Four Seasons
-Grand Hyatt Erawan

All three are lovely hotels. I have not stayed at any of the three, but would opt for Four Seasons or Hyatt. Location of the JW is not quite so handy, IMO.

Hotels in Bangkok, in general, are excellent, and are relatively great values compared to most of the world's major cities. The Four Seasons is fantastic, and the Grand Hyatt Erawan is not far behind. You may also want to consider staying by the river at the Mandarin Oriental or The Peninsula; both extraordinary hotels, though the Mandarin can be too formal and stuffy for some. If, as you say, you have a great rate at The Four Seasons, you should probably take advantage of it.

For area closest to shopping of the three choices you mentioned, the Grand Hyatt Erawan (GHE) is the one to go with. GHE is connected to CentralWorld and Siam Paragon shopping malls by a pedestrian bridge which also connects to Chitlom BTS station for easy access to all points of interest in Bangkok. The GHE is a great property with a lovely pool. Although most of our stays were with the JWM (120 nights in the past few years), we have had 3 stays at the GHE since we had the kids. Out of the three hotels, and if you can get comparable rates for all of them, I would go with the Four Seasons. Best service, amenities, restaurant and a sky train station right outside. Second choice would be the Grand Hyatt.

A cut above. JW has the best deals suites for me there free rooms marriott.com points just picked 70000 with first use of their no foreign fee chase.com Visa CC. That is a deal the only thing better than cheap is free.

I really liked the 4S and found the service to be fabulous. I got a REALLY good preferred partner rate ( and no need to pay up front) at whatahotel.com it's close to 2 sky train stations and has a wonderful breakfast buffet and a really good Italian restaurant ( incase you are tiring of Thai food )

I'd agree with the opinions above, if you are getting a good rate - the Four Seasons wins hands down among the three. Fabulous service. A good second choice would be the Grand Hyatt Erawan.

the jw marriott pool is very small and might disappoint your child and you..

all are in excellent locations..

would you consider the anantara riverside---former marriott? best pool in town and on the river.

Can't help you with personal impressions of overnight stays at the JW and the Grand Hyatt Erawan (more later on the latter property) but more than happy to share thoughts on one of my all-time cherished Bangkok business travel hotels, the Four Seasons. I haven't stayed with her for work for quite awhile (the St. Regis is my current primary BKK work hotel -- along with two recent stays at the Peninsula), but will always have nothing but the highest praise for the Four Seasons. Given that the St. Regis is a rather close neighbour, I occasionally find time for savouring the Four Seasons' beautiful public venues -- and shopping for the mrs. and others at a convenient Jim Thompson shop.

Noticed you will be on corporate rate. When I stayed at the 4S for work, I was normally booked in the lowest room categories and given most satisfactory and gratefully appreciated upgrades to deluxe-view rooms with executive club access. Over time, I grew very partial to said rooms on floors 8 and 9 with views of the Royal Bangkok Sport Club.

And will use the opportunity to give the high appreciation to the Four Seasons' Bangkok management and front-desk staff : several years back, given a truly magnificent upgrade (and one-night comp) to a beautiful Cabana lodging. (Granted, we had just returned from a brief Bali holiday, entailing nights - payed and comped - at the Four Seasons' properties at Sayan and Jimbaran Bay. Should also add I was much more of a frequent 4S corporate guest in BKK and Singapore in those days.)

(And should your corporate travel ever take you to our fine home of Singapore, will hand out more richly deserved praise to the 4S SIN. Before we purchased a home in Singapore, the 4S was my primary Singapore business travel abode. Great place and friends.)

Additional 4S BKK enticements for you : one of the finest lap pools around (second only to the Shangri-La's Krungthep Wing lap pool, in my BKK business travel experiences) and late-night, in-room massage treatments. Discovered the therapeutic raptures of those sessions the very first evening of my first 4S BKK business stay. Sweet dreams, indeed.

Should you stay at the Four Seasons, one suggestion is to take in a drink and view at the St. Regis Terrace Bar. If you catch it right, memorable sunset vistas.

With a nine-year-old in tow, perhaps 'clubbing' is not high on your BKK to-do list, but will still give the fond appreciation to the Grand Hyatt Erawan's Spasso nightspot. Back in the day when I was a single guy on BKK business trips, joyous evenings with a most attractive, gracious and fun-loving clientele. Land of Smiles, indeed.
