Both are ok , suggest marco polo hotels(usd65) in tsim sha tsui, close to shopping and everything, on hk side you can try Park lane hotel, big ,nice and clean rooms and reasonably priced around USD75.
Depending also on what month you be there.

We stayed at the Marco Polo Hong Kong in April and it was a great location - close to shopping, restaurants and MTR/ferry transportation. But I think that, given how little time we spent in the room, I'd choose a less expensive hotel next time.

Mike - if you see this post again, are you sure abour the prices?
Lia - how much did you pay for your room?
I will be there in September.

We had a 5-night package including air from San Francisco on United, 5 nights hotel at Marco Polo HK, daily breakfast and 1/2 day HK Island tour @ approx. $1100 total and then we also added a 1-day tour to Guangzhou/Shekou (Canton) for about $200.

Has anyone stayed at Grand Hyatt? Your opinion appreciated.

Has anyone stayed at the Metro Park Hotel? It is a relatively new hotel that is located on the Hong Kong side.

Also, I am interested in the Park Lane hotel - where did you book in order to get the US95 rate? That's an excellent rate since I'm checking their web site and seeing rates much higher. I'm planning to be in HK in late September.

Thx!

In regard to the harbor view rooms at the Marco Polo, please note these rooms do not really have great views, due to the angle and location of the hotel. Not worth the premium, I'd say. I agree with a previous poster, who recommended a stroll along the harbor walkway that runs from the old railroad clock tower next to the Star Ferry terminal past the New World Center. Or stop for a cockail at the lobby bar of the Intercontinental (old Regent) - the view is magnificent!
By all means stay in Kowloon at the Salisbury YMCA. It is next to the Star Ferry and the Peninsula Hotel and across from the museums. Ther service is wonderful - 3 restaurants, health club, pool, English newspaper on your door every day.

grand Hyatt Jul 6th, 2002 02:49 PM

Grand Hyatt is one of the best hotels in Hong Kong.
