Where to Play Basketball in Tokyo

Konichiwa!

I am trying to play basketball in as many countries as possible and make a video of basketball around the world with my GoPro. I just landed in Berlin last night and looking at: http://www.courtsoftheworld.com/Japan/Tokyo

I see a lot of courts. I don't know which one are the most popular courts or where the competition is the best. It seems as if Yoyogi park might be the best: http://www.courtsoftheworld.com/Japan/Tokyo/Yoyogi-Park

I am planning to go there tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Do you have other places to recommend?

One thing that I am concerned about is that apparently, locals are not very open to playing ball with strangers/outsiders. I am Canadian of Vietnamese origin so I look Asian. Don't speak Japanese though so I don't know what to expect.

Does anybody have any experience with just showing up with or without a ball and join a pick up game?

If outoor ball is not the solution, does anybody know where I can get in on some indoor ball?

Arigato!

I'm slightly confused by the berlin reference, and wonder if that's throwing people?

But I'm not sure many of those who post here are basketball players, so may be none of us know.

I'd suggest getting in touch with a local club there and asking for their advice.

That's my mistake, I made a typo. I meant to have Tokyo, of course, not Berlin. I was in Berlin before coming to Tokyo, I guess I had a slip.

I don't know about local clubs in Tokyo unfortunately.

Aah no worries, BaoParty.

I just Googled "Tokyo Basketball Club" and several different links popped up. Would be worth spending an hour going through a few, seeing if you can find any contact information and sending a few emails asking for help?

It looks as though most of us posting here happen not to be basketball people.

One other idea from someone who doesn't play basketball - talk with the front desk people or concierge at your hotel.

That info was easy to find: http://www.courtsoftheworld.com/Japan/Tokyo

There is an app for that: http://www.courtsoftheworld.com/mobile

Yoyogi Park in Tokyo at 3:29 into this video: http://www.courtsoftheworld.com/Japa...ark/videos/314

Oh, you had all that. You could ask your question at answers dot yahoo.

That you "look Asian" and are not Japanese means you are a gaijin like me (being tall would mean more than being Asian, I think).

Maybe this is the first, but won't be the last, place where you are obviously not a local or speak the language (your skill can do the speaking). If you get turned down then it likely would be politely. The phrase "that would be difficult" means "no".

Let us know how it goes, please.
