Where to eat in Phuket?

Was wondering where are the best places to eat in Phuket? What have been your experiences???

Mom Tri's Boathouse in Kata beach is very good. It's wonderful food in a pleasant setting.

Mom Tri's for sure. We'd also been to Red Onion near Karon Circle, on the recommendation of JamesA from this board. We loved it and the duck there was indeed very good.

Mom Tri's Kitchen at the Villa Royale property is also excellent (and it's more romantic than the Grill Room at the Boathouse).

There are so many, depends if money is no object, if you want a great view, or you are looking for something more natural Thai.
In Phuket you get the good, the bad, and the downright ugly, a lot of choices.
Also there are places spread out across the island.
I agree with the others. Perhaps if you could tell more about what you are looking for and which part of the island you are staying

We'll be trying it in early Feb.

I've just found the list of dishes recommended for that restaurant as well - cashew and peppercorn appetiser, spring rolls, chicken in pandanus leaves, tamarind prawns, pak liang and white fungus salad

We will be staying at Kamala Beach - so any restaurants near there would be great! Also, we are looking for traditional Thai food.

We live in San Francisco and are big foodies!

I would say the Boathouse Wine and Grill. Not sure about the other ones... I have not been there in a couple of years and they may have done some remodeling in the lobby.

Mom Tri's Kitchen (my favorite) is at their "other" property on/near Kata Beach, called Villa Royale.

last june we went to what was simply called mon's tri kitchen....it is the one further down the side street... it overhangs the water and you have to go down several steps from the parking lot to get into the rest....

Kamala has lots of small places. I don't know if 'Rockfish' is still around but it used to be good but pricey.
There are a lot of Euro style cafes and restaurants, Scandinavian and German restaurants.
Towards the south part of Kamala there are local places to eat but none spring to mind as being particularly great.
If you are heading for a good evening out then go south to Patong where there are lots of choices. There are also excellent seafood places on the cliffsides between Kamala and Patong.
You find lots of more authentic Thai food around Phuket Town, Chalong / Rawai.

Where in Kamala are you staying ?

On the northern side of Patong, just a short taxi ride from Kamalalala is Ban Rim Pa. Stunning cliffside location and excellent "Royal" Thai cuisine, though it is pricey by Thai standards.
One of my favorites is Sabai Sabai which is in a little laneway off Bangla rd (Patong) called soi post office, not far off the main beach rd. Great Thai and western food..great value for money.

On the road from Kata beach to the Kata viewpoint is a little "tree-house" called the after beach bar. I have eaten there frequently and never had anything less than a fabulous Thai feed.

Sorry, I cant help with Kamala as I have never stayed there but you must venture to one of the beach restaraunts in Surin beach, which is not far from Kamala. There is something special about dining right on the beach.
