Where to buy an Alms Bowl and a Gong in Bangkok?

My wife Jeane told me yesterday that she wants to purchase an alms bowl and a small gong in either Bangkok or Kathmandu next February. Any suggestions? I would think that alms bowls are fairly ubiquitous but don't know about gongs. In any case we have not shopped for either on past trips. We will be in Bangkok during mid-week so the weekend market will not work.

Craig,

The biggest Buddhist shop center is the area around the giant swing in Bangkok. There are other shops scatter around town so look out for them in case you pass by one in a taxi or you could ask your hotel as well. Gongs - I don't know but I do have some Swiss cow bells.

As I remember, the area with the monks making Alms bowls is on the other side of the river. It is on the Nancy Chandler map.

And if you go to the area around the giant swing (there are some good Buddhist bookstores in the area), you'll be a short walk from Chote Chitr.

While a spliff would be my first choice Mango, my wife needs a bowl or a GGGGong...
