Where is it not raining in November?
 

My boyfriend, sister and I are headed to Singapore for 7 days in November. I have read on this site (which I LOVE!) that there is not 7 days of things to do in Singapore, so we are going to spend four of those days somewhere else.

We have looked at going to Ko Samui, but i've read it's too rainy. We talked about Phuket, but i've heard there are too many girls/boys selling themselves to really enjoy it.

We talked about Bali, but i've heard that it's not what it used to be.

Is there someplace we are missing? We want someplace that is relaxing, interesting, fun food and bars. Preferably a beach.

Thoughts?

Note that there is no place that is as it used to be. You aren't as you used to be.

Bali would be a wonderful option, as it has such interesting cultural thiungs to see and do in addition to having beach. Most beach locations elsewhere will give you little exposure to the culture.

Phuket and the surrounding areas are another option. There are busy beaches with lots of people and lots of entertainemnt, there are quiet beaches where you will complain that the only place to eat or have a drink is at your hotel.

If you want someplace that will give you a taste of a different culture without the beach you might consider another city in SE Asia, perhaps Bangkok.

You've peaked my interest in Bangkok. I think we would like to stay a few days there. Is there a beach close by we can get away to for a day or two? We don't want to spend a lot of time traveling, how is Hua Hin? Is Ko Samet too far?

Hua Hin is about a 3 hour drive from Bangkok. There are some lovely places to stay.

But if you really only have 7 days, you'd better off choosing two places rather than trying three - you 'll spend all of your time in transit!

You could also opt for using Singapore as a base and going up to Malacca (Meleka) for a couple of days. It's not really beach, but it is interesting.

Malaysia is within easy reach of Singapore, and it's a cheap and nice country to visit. Consider a trip to Penang or Pulau Tioman if you want a beach break. But there's a few things to see in Kuala Lumpur as well.
