Where in Thailand: Aug & Sep?
 

May have an opportunity to stop by Thailand for a few days during these months.

Have been to Bangkok 8-10 times and also Chang Mai. Was thinking of Krabi, but later, in the Jan-Mar time frame. Would Hau Hin be an easy choice? Too much rain? Living in Hawaii, I'm afraid it would not have much "wow" factor for me. Or should I go to Phuket just for grins and a change of pace and not worry about the weather?

Living in Hawaii, I'm not sure why you'd go to Thailand to go to a beach! But if you are already in SE Asia and looking for a beach break...

Sept is the rainiest month in Phuket, so I think whether to go there depends on how you feel about rain. Hua Hin will certainly have less rain. see www.weatherbase.com

The beaches in Hua Hin are fine, but not spectacular. However, there are some very nice places to stay in Hua Hin. It also has the advantage of being about 2.5 hours drive from Bangkok.

are we going to get to meet you at the HI GTG in sept??? hope so...

HH would make a very easy escape from bkk via car, bus or train.....2+ hours drive...

look at the new sheraton, north of HH...its quite fantastic, but issolated

we also love the hyatt in HH

Kathie, I often use BKK as a transit point for other travel within the Asia-Pacific region. My brief stay would just be to break up longer trips. I've never been to Hua Hin or Phuket and am just curious about what is there.

most GTG's are so good that it is worth while scheduling travel around them...
