When will the Suvarnabhumi Airport Express Train start running?

Hi

The last times I have been to Bangkok I have seen them build a train line to Suvarnabhumi Airport. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suvarnabhumi_Airport_Link it should be up an running in May 2009. Does anyone know if they are on schedule? Has it been further delayed? I guess taxi will be the best option also this time

Regards

We were there in April and drove out alongside the train line when we delivered our rental car back to the airport. I may be wrong but it looked as thought they had a LOT of work to do joining up the various sections.

I was there in early Sept and saw that they were making progress. It's Thailand, so it will probably be "late" in being completed... If I'm traveling light, I'll certainly take it into the city. If I've got a couple of heavy suitcases, I'll still prefer a taxi.

Construction will be completed by the end of this year. The train will open around June next year (2009).

your words in Gods ear, Michael. When I passed by a couple of weeks ago, there were just a few miles already finished and still a lot of work to do.But in good old Thailand you never know. In Pranburi we wait 18 months already just for the flyover to Hua Hin to be finished.
