what would the airfare average?

I will be leaving the US around 5/31, from Chicago. I am going to Thailand, Bali, and Nepal. What would you recommend for itinerary to get the lowest airfare? I will spend about 7 days in each place. Thanks.

I don't have details, but in general, you should be able to find the lowest fare from the US to BKK. 5/31 is already high-season, so expect to pay about $800 from ORD.

There are direct flights from BKK to DPS (Denpasar/Bali), and KTM (Kathmandu), and even if you buy straight from the full-service Thai Airways, they are only about USD$350 (DPS) and USD$420 (KTM). You should be able to get even better fares either in Bangkok or with a travel agent specialized in Asian travel here.

Both Cathay Pacific and Malaysian Airlines have some sort of Asian passes. However, since neither flies out of Chicago, and neither flies to KTM, you'll be adding a lot of extra fares and flights. Won't make sense for you.

I agree with rkkwan. Don't try to price the entire itinerary here. Get the best possible fare for ORD-BKK, and once you get to Bangkok, find a local TA (they are everywhere), and you'll save some serious money.

You can try Seatours, they offer all the cheap fares and deals but you have the added 'reliability' of knowing that they are also the appointed American Express Travel Agent for Thailand:-

As rkkwan said Thai is the one for KTM and Bali. It might be worth checking with Malaysia Airlines for NYC-KUL-DPS(Bali) return and then a Thai KUL-BKK-KTM routing.

i just typed you a long reply and aol cut me off and it is lost...well here we go again

i am using seatours for my may/june trip...i am very happy with them...i am paying $352. for my bkk-bali round trip on the daily thai air flight..

my contact is eddie

[email protected]

he is very accomodating and they take credit cards easily and no additional service charge (thai agents usually add on 3-5% for use of a credit card)

i live in boston and a good fare from here is $600-800, but usually expect to pay $1000......

i use northwest, but from chicago united is probably the best---chicago-narita-bangkok or through LA....

there are some good buys on upscale hotels in bali at the moment...the new conrad is about $70 and the bali hyatt is $70 also and the grand hyatt is $100...sheraton and westin also have specials...look around...of course there are tons of lesser and cheaper places...

in bangkok we like the marriott resort and spa...don't know what level hotel you need but this one is great and has a fabulous pool

go too www.airtreks.com the4 are a rtw specialist and online they have a program called "bgtrip planner" where you choose your destinations and an avarage price pops up. they are consolidators..
\
just quickly checking you can maybe get whole trip for 1900 to $2388....

rkkwan Mar 31st, 2004 04:51 PM

Well, there lies the problem. rkkmk and I are thinking about fares about $1600-1700 from Chicago to all three places embagel wants to go.
