What to do for a two day side-trip in northern India in July?

We, (a party of 6 including 3 teens) are trying to figure out what do do for two days in mid July. Due to a series of events, we find ourselves in a position where after our trips in Mumbai and Pune, we have two nights and three days before we need to catch a flight out of New Delhi. We spent two nights in Agra and toured two days in Delhi on our trip 6 years ago. What else would you suggest? Are there nearby places for mini-safaris? Or, luxury wellness retreats?

Thanks

Hi Misha

July is rainy season in the Mumbai area and hot as hell in the Delhi area. I would suggest going to the upper elevations few hrs from Delhi - Nainital, Musoorie, Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Simla - you can find retreats in some of these places by a google search or a travel agent in India. But these are a few hours drive from Delhi .

Go to Kerala and rent a river boat for a cruise. Alternatively consider Goa.

Ananda Spa, north of Delhi, is amazing. A luxury retreat from the heat and congestion.

Ananda, Ananda Ananda.....your best choice

A travel agent just questioned whether it was worth it considering time constraints. We would arrive in Delhi on the morning travel to Ananda. Get there by evening (?). Have one full day and then leave late morning to catch a flight out from Delhi. Thoughts?

Another option could be to go to Lonavala or something else near Pune or Mumbai and then fly into Delhi the day of our flight.

Would love your opinions.

You can visit Jaipur. Just 260 km from Delhi. Famous for forts & Palaces. Can experience the traditional life style and also do shopping.

I agree wirg Ash1970, you could visit the royal cities of rajasthan if you havn't been there before, or go to a cooler place like simla or something, there is no point of going to Kerala or Goa, it would be a waste of time coz they are too far.

Thank you all. We just decided to extend our trip in Mumbai and fly in the morning of our flight. It was a bit harrowing because the flight from Mumbai to Delhi was cancelled without any notice. Fortunately their was another one available. The Delhi airport has many easy ways to spend your time. I would double check the rules on early entry, though.
