What is best region to stay in Phuket?

My husband and I are retired (think older) and will be spending a week in Phuket-10/26-11/2. We are not interested in the rowdy nightlife of Patong. We would like to be located on a nice swimable beach that is not too far from shopping and sightseeing. Any suggestions as to what area we should choose will be greatly appreciated.

Check out Kata and Kata Noi beaches. I like The Boathouse on Kata and the Katathani on Kata Noi. My husband and I are also retirement age and we enjoy Phuket.

there is a new hyatt... the jw Marriott and it's neighbors the anantara and renaissance are all excellent, but isolated.

we prefer the jw Marriott and the le meridian at khao lak, one hour north of the Phuket airport

Kata and Kata Noi are good. Kamala is quiet but close to shopping.

Patong is the busiest one followed by Karon.

Natai Beach is nice and quiet, also very clean. Took my family there before, had a lovely time at one of the resorts there called aleenta. The area is a lot more private and a real getaway, the staff were great as well, very helpful in arranging transport for us when we wanted to go in town. I would definitely recommend Natai especially if you really want to relax.

Mom Tri's Villa Royale is another great place. It overlooks Kata Noi beach. A real splurge if you can manage the cost. Some beaches are quite isolated and have very little in the way of shopping and dining nearby. You would have to taxi to just about everywhere to shop or dine away from the resort. Kata/Kata Noi both have many options pretty much right outside the door. Kata Noi a bit less than Kata. Mom Tri's is very quiet and private if that is important.
