What is a semi-room?
I am looking at booking The Towel Hotel in Kyoto and they list either a semi-room or a standard room? Does anyone know what a semi-room is?
|
I would guess that it meant that it has a "semi-double" bed.
Asiarooms site describes Tower Hotel: "Among these 293 guest rooms, the hotel guests have a choice of 37 Single rooms, 12 Double rooms, 112 Twin rooms, 2 Suites and 2 Japanese Style rooms ..." |
To answer your next question, about the bed, here is some of what KimJapan wrote about bed sizes in a post you will find if you search this forum for "semi-double":
"Twin beds are usually just that, one person sized, 90 cm wide and 200 cm long. Semi-double are slightly wider, 120 cm. Double beds are 140 cm wide. Some beds are slightly longer - you might find them in better hotels. Better hotels also offer king and queen beds." |
I think it really means you're only gonna get half a room for your money.

Could be that.
But might just be a bad translation. It may be that "semi-room" is being confused for "twin room". |
