What I like about Mumbai
I've been to a number of cities in India, but only Mumbai could win my heart. In my attempts to understand the reasons, I made a list of things I like about this city. Here it is:
1. Mumbai trains (he he, it.s true) 2. Architecture (CST, The Municipal Corporation Building, The High Court etc) 3. Sunrise (view from the Hanging Gardens) 4. Street food . 5. Double decker buses 6. The sea 7 Authentic oriental markets 8. Cheap entertainments for kids 9.Museums 10. Local charm - well, it's describable:) TO see the photos, check out here http://www.indiapalette.com/10-thing...-about-mumbai/ And of course, if you like Mumbai too, feel free to add to the list |
I like the food in Mumbai. While a lot of cities have more to offer in terms of history than Mumbai (Delhi for instance), I think the Parsi food in Mumbai is top notch.

True :)

Oh, just remembered one more thing. I also like the sounds of Mumbai. At first it was just a noise for me, more irritating than the heat. But gradually I stopped noticing it and even started liking as a background sound :) I know, it's crazy :)

Thanks for posting this. We just bought tickets flying into Mumbai, and I was trying to decide whether it is worth spending a few days there.

You should explore Kolkata:
1. Has trams, much more charming the trains 2. Architecture: much better than Mumbai in many places and more in number becaus of 200 years as India's capital under the colonial rule 3. Sunris: Since Kolkata is in the east of India, sunrise is earlier. Try it at Victoria Memorial or on the Hoogly. 4. Street food: Kolkata has much better, in variety taste and abundance. Ask anyone and they will tell you Kolkata has the best street food in India. 5. The sea: well, the sea is 40km away but the huge Hoogly river is right there. 6. Authentic oriental markets: there are many. 7. Cheap entertainment for kids: there are many. From the botanical gardens to Nicco Park. 8. Museums: the National Museum in Kolkata is one of India's largest and best stocked. 9. Local charm: you've got to see it to get charmed :) |
julies, hope you enjoyed/will enjoy your visit!

theloststory, Kolkata is definitely in my list, but I expect to be charmed in a different way. Mumbai is unique, and also is Kolkata (at least I hope so :))
