What do do in Singapore.

Hi,

I'm going to stop by in Singapore for 1.5 days as a part of my honeymoon. (Arriving there at noon and leaving there at midnight next day.)

What would be the best way to tour the places and where are the must go places?

Thank you!

For your short stay, suggest the following :

- book half day city tour which will give you a combination of sights in the city, Chinatown, little India, Arab Street. No sense spending precious time trying to figure out routes or running around.
- Stroll around Clarke Quay after 6pm, get on a short Bumboat ride along Spore River. Drop off at Boat Quay and have dinner there or walk towards The Fullerton hotel for dinner. It's a 1920s historic GPO bldg with imposing columns, now a swanky & luxurious hotel. If nothing more, just go into the lobby for a look or have a drink at their hip bar at lobby level.
- shopping along Orchard Rd is mind boggling due to the variety offered in the long stretch of malls.
- Or go to Raffles City mall & either have a meal at the top of the tallest hotel attached to it (Equinox restaurant) or cross road to Raffles hotel for dinner & drinks. Dress smart casual for both places required during dinner. Have a good time.

Some of my faves: the Botanical Gardens, especially the Orchid Garden. Have a very romantic lunch at Les Amis au Jardin, a fancy (and expensive) French restaurant in the Botanical Gardens, The Asian Civilization museum.

Go on a night safari...very good fun. Definately shop at Orchard Rd, don't bother with Sentosa island and go to Raffles for a drink.

May: Definitely go to the Raffles for a drink. As we were getting almost sick of all the shopping malls on Orchard Road, etc., we went to the zoo and had a quiet and most pleasant day out there.
The Orchid Garden is nice as well whereas I found Chinatown really made up for tourists. Nothing to do with China. Liked Little India a bit better. But this is just my personal opinion. Did not care about Sentosa either.
Heard, that Jurong Bird Park is nice. Did not go though.
Have fun and enjoy your honeymoon.

Jurong Bird Park is nice - but to see it - you'll need to get there - visit the birds - and get back - and it isn't downtown. Takes a train and a bus to get there. Visit the Jurong Bird Park is you have a longer stay. Same for the Night Safari.

If you are booked on Singapore Airlines, they are running a special called Singapore Stopover. Lots of the above mentioned tours for $1.00.
Congratulations and have fun.
