Also, not sure if would need a visa for extra two days??
Any suggestions appreciated....G

You can easily have a nice visit to tokyo or even Kyoto in 2 days. I've done it several times. Transportation in Japan is very fast, so it is easy to get back and forth!

Dear Icuy
We o/night at an airport hotel and would prob get a shuttle and have a look at the township. Next day ??
How long to get to Toyko?
Would it be worth it to: train Nar/Toyko
Accommodation there?? and train back for flight to Beij??
In your opinion please.

If you have a full day, of course go into Tokyo. There are two types of trains, plus the airport "limo" bus to various points in Tokyo. About 90 minutes each way, give or take, depending on method and where in the Tokyo metropolitan area you're going.

Afterall, Narita is the "New Tokyo Airport".

Bonjour mandg,

Two days is more than enough for a good time in Tokyo.

By train (either JR Narita express to Tokyo or Shinjuku or Keisei Skyliner http://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetud...ei_us/top.html to Ueno), you need between 1 to 1 1/2 hour to city center. Trains are frequent and always on time. More details at http://www.narita-airport.or.jp/airport_e/access/train/

Many thanks: Our ignorance is shameful. Learning so much just in planning this trip.
Q: It may be a bit lazy to ask here, but: "We will have a visa for China trip. If we stay an extra night in Japan on-route (stop-over) to Beij. would we then need to apply for a (2-day) visa for Japan, please?
Bye - G

If you're American citizen, you don't need a visa to visit Japan up to 90 days.
