I use a Nikon D300 with either the 18-200 lens or for animals the 80-400 lens.

Mostly I use a 5 years old Canon EOS 10D with a few lenses with A630 as backup. On my last two trips I got lazy and took only 10D and 2 small lenses - 24mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.8, and I found out that this kit worked pretty well with my photography style.
I bring a small table-top tripod, a lot of (large) memory cards and shoot RAW all the time :-) Best regards, Oleg C. www.Olegis.com |
I use a Canon Power Shot as well. It's a point & shoot, but knowing the capabilities of other settings will give you even better photos. I've been using Canons for as long as I can remember & continue to be pleased with them (currently on my 3rd digital). Each one gets more compact but with better features & better results. Strapping a small camera on my belt, to me, beats dragging around a bigger one unless you're really "into" photography. I always take 2 memory cards & 2 re-chargeable batteries. That way you'll always be ready. Enjoy!

I also use the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 which fits in my pocket and has a 10x optical zoom. lack of viewfinder took some getting used to but with a 4GB card you get 880 pictures which was terrific for 35 days in SE Asia
