wellness spa holiday in Thailand
 

Does anybody have any suggestion on a decent but not too costly wellness spa resort in Thailand? I'm planning for a week's holiday in end November to stay away from busy life and hopefully get some significant improvement on my skin problem (eczema, actually) which has been bothering me continuously for 2.5 years. Some say raw food, or at least vegetarian food for a prolonged period will do me good, and I would like to give it a try.

A friend received a suggestion on The Spa Resort (www.thesparesorts.net) which has several locations like Chiangmai, Koh Samui and Koh Chang. In view of the flooding situation, I think we should give Koh Chang a pass to avoid overland transport.

But then, is it a good idea at all to enjoy a holiday Thailand, while they are busy coping with and recuperating from the flood???

wakakeet, I have friends who swear by ChivaSom. It may be pricy though.

There are also many wellness centers in Bali. Como Shabhala is wonderful (but also pricy). There are others if you'd like to consider Bali as well as Thailand.

Personally too humid mouldy flooded in the north for me.

I would go to support the economy but head to a beach less wet

The Chiva Som is glorious, albeit expensive. The Hyatt at Hua Hin is a short stroll away, and I have stayed at the Hyatt and taken spa treatments at the Chiva Som. The Hyatt now has its own very luxe spa.

There are some nice, moderately priced spa resorts outside of Chiang Mai.

WHile you can bid on priceline, as you know, you have no say in the hotel they place you at. And Priceline's idea of 5 star is never the same as mine!

I am expecting that the flooding situation will soon be over in Thailand. They are accustomed to dealing with flooding, but this year has been exceptionally wet. I expect within a few weeks, things will be back to normal in terms of what you as a visitor will see.

Greater Bangkok and the area just north of Bangkok have been hardest hit. If you are headed to Chiang Mai or Hua Hin, for instance, there have not been floods.

I'm leaving for Bangkok and Burma in two weeks, but am looking at shortening my time in Bangkok because of the flooding. I want to support the Thai people with my tourist dollars, but I don't want to burden their over-stretched infrastructure for transporting food and water.
