Weekend in Bali
Me and my wife are going this friday night to Bali and getting back on monday. We would like some travel tips: where to stay on budget and what are the must see and do things in Bali?
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you're looking to relax, we loved the Bali Hyatt in Sanur. It's not too far from the airport, not overly expensive and the service is very friendly. The spa there was great, and the grounds are beautiful. It's a nice little town and there were fisherman just to the right of our beach that made the resort have a very quaint village-like feel.
If you're looking for more culture or action, you could go to Ubud. It's a little further from the airport than Sanur is (maybe an hour?). That's where most of the Balinese cultural exhibits and shows are held. A lot of bike tours also seem to leave from there - our bike tour was the highlight of the trip...we really enjoyed riding through the rice fields and villages.
To tour temples and beaches, I'd hire a driver when you get there. Your hotel will be able to recommend one. Our driver was only $30-35/day (this was 2 years ago) and knew all the right places to go based on our interests.
In addition to Fodors, this site was helpful for my planning:

We loved Bali and hope to get back soon. Have fun!

The two places I'd avoid in Bali: Kuta, busy full of drunk adolescents, touts everywhere or Nusa Dua, a sterile tourist enclave.
For a beach area, I like Sanur, or if you'd rather stay inland, I'd stay in the Ubud area. Forget about "must dos," as in a mere weekend you'll only get a small sample - and anything you do will begin to give you a feel for Bali.
