website for booking Cambodia

What is a reliable website for booking a hotel room in Siem Reap?

I have read your the large thread entitled "Visa for Angkor Wat" so it seems you haven't done much searching on this forum. In my opinion (and others) you can get great rates from Ponheary ([email protected]) if she is your guide. You need a guide and driver anyway so why not go for it. She has contacts for a broad range of pricing including her own guest house.

I did see the Ponheary referrences in many threads and had already decided upon her for Siem Reap. I also saw the many recommendations for places to stay ( Bopha looks very nice ). What I was referring to in this thread was something akin to sawasdee or the equivalent... I have done some searching but haven't found anything...

lloydboy Apr 12th, 2006 06:35 PM

Kathie Apr 12th, 2006 06:46 PM

and she can reserve you a room... just give her your price range

The following are some of the better sites to book rooms. Rates are about the same as what Ponheary can get you if you are not using her as a guide.

http://www.asiarooms.com/cambodia/

http://www.precisionreservations.com...e/PHCOther.htm

The rates on those sites are not anywhere near what Ponheary can get. Please contact her on this if you have already decided on her. Just be aware that you will need to bring cash to pay for your hotel.

Craig - The question was if there were any reliable agents sites to book hotels and I listed a few. Whether Ponheary can get better rates which include all the exras I don't know. Unless you use her you need to book a room from somewhere else. And lets face it, not everone is going to hire her as there are other good guides around

Scotters,
The OP said he was using Ponheary so my advice is based on that. My experience with Ponheary was to book the Victoria Hotel through her. Her price was SUBSTANTIALLY less than the prices quoted by asiarooms, precision or any other site. It was very specific on type of room, inclusion of breakfast and charges for service and tax. I should point out that we subsequently cancelled the reservation with her and booked the Hotel de la Paix direct (again at a price lower than any of the hotel agent web sites) because her agency does not handle the Hotel DLP. I hope this clarifies where I am coming from.

Sorry for the spelling - exras should be extras (taxes, service charge and breakfast)

Dear Lloyd:

I just returned from Cambodia and used Lolei travel company: http://www.asiatours.net/cambodia/

The owner, Peter Lietz, is Swiss and also manages a hotel (Passagio Boutique Hotel in Siem Reap). I stayed there for 2 nights and it was comfortable and very clean. The travel company has many different tours in Cambodia, but also in Vietnam and Laos. I can recommend their guides to the Angor temple complexes, their English was great and they were very entertaining and informative.

Enjoy your trip. I thought it was amazing. I have some reviews on my webblog. http://thetravelingbelgian.blogspot.com
