LynnieD,
I'm planning to enjoy some street food!! Monica ((F)) |
Go for it Monica, where are you going in China?
|
I'm planning to go October 2008, hopefully for 3 weeks. I'll be taking my cousin with me and am waiting to make sure Oct 08 is good for her. Should be, as she's been waiting for me to go and wants to tag along.

Oops LynnieD, I misread your email.
I don't have a complete itinerary but places that are on my list are (with estimated number of nights – and not necessarily in this order, as I’m not sure of the right flow of the trip yet): - Beijing (4 nights) - Luoyang (2 nights) (or maybe, if possible, as a day trip from Beijing?) - Xian (2 nights) - Shanghai (3 nights) with a day trip to Tong Li and Suzhou - Guilin (3 nights) with a Li river cruise; Day trip to Longsheng - Hong Kong 3 nights (2.5 days) I have 23-24 days for this trip (unless the expenses really add up then I’d keep it closer to 19-20 days) and I haven’t figured out the remaining days. I am leaning against taking a Yangtze cruise and would probably prefer more time to other cities/towns. But I would like some relaxing time too. I could add another day in HK for a day trip someplace. Once I really get into my books, I’ll “officially” post my itinerary for everyone to comment. Monica ((F)) |
Thanks so much for sharing your website. We are planning a trip to Beijing & Guilin for late July. We loved reading about your trip and the photos were awesome. I am even more excited for our trip.
Thanks |

Regarding hotel location choices: While taxis are very cheap, traffic can be horrid. So in my opinion, given a choice, I would stay somewhere convenient to some of the sites or shopping that interests you, because you don't want to waste all your time in a taxi regardless of how low the cost is.

Aleta -
You are right regarding location and traffic, but it depends on the city. Beijing is very large but traffic wasn't a major problem. The worst traffic was in Shanghai, although we were very near a metro station which we could have used but didn't because we had a guide and driver. |
What a great TR! Truly enjoyable to read and to savor! Just the right amount of information and the pages were so beautifully done! All those links too!
Can't believe how creative people can get with their TRs! :) Thanks so much for sharing! |
