weather in Hong Kong next week
hy, I'm leaving for HK on thursday next week (arriving on friday), the forecast for friday and saturday doesn't look the best - it says "scattered t-storms" - although the temperatures are great - about 26C.
Do I have to pack my raincoat and an umbrella now??? thx for the replys |
Hong Kong gets an average rainfall of 85 INCHES a year, so you should always pack an umbrella. The raincoat may be a bit hot in 26 C temps as it will be quite humid as well.

I don't recommend raincoats in Hong Kong unless you're doing hiking or outdoor activities. It's too messy and inconvenient in the city when you get on buses, trains, or get into crowded shopping malls, etc...
And if your activity in Hong Kong mostly constitute shopping, then you can even forget about the umbrella - most newer shopping malls are connected to MTR stations. Also, you don't really need to pack an umbrella here. Whever it rains, you'll see all kinds of shops pulling out their stock of umbrellas for sale. |
You may check for the weather forecast for the next 7 days from the official website of the Hong Kong Observatory here - http://www.hko.gov.hk/.
The weather as I can see is quite warm (up to 30 degrees celsius) for the coming few days and scattered rains are expected. |

Its been a long winter in HK and a wet spring. We are already using dehumidifiers constantly. If you have a good umbrella and do not want to buy one bring it. The type which fits in a bag is best. Also carry a light shawl as morns and eves are still nippy days it rains and esp on the ferry. I'd avoid the raincoat too as it is bulky to carry. Bring rain proof shoes tho.

I live in Hong Kong, we have showers in the last few days, i think the weather is fine next week but could be a bit hot ~30C.
You don't have to pack raincoat or umbrella. We don't often wear raincoat in HK as rkkwan said and you can easily buy an umbrella in HK when it rains. |
