Weather Golden Triangle
What is the weather likely to be like in the golden triangle ( Anantara ) in middle of feb, is it cold in the early mornings and late evenings will we require warm clothing ?

I looked up the weather at another resort up there -- it's just like Chiang Mai which is hot during the day and cool at night. I think you'll want a sweater/jacket.
www.wundergound.com is also a great source for weather trends around the world -- they have a historical search. |
It was rainy and cold the whole time we were in the north in December.
If you take a long-tail to cruise the river, you should consider a windproof jacket and a watchcap. I had both of these and was still really cold. |
thanks Jenstar and hi50phd for your advice, I have checked with wunderground .com who predict daytime highs of 93 minimums of 62 and nightime minimums of 60.
In england at 60 we get our cozies out and head for the beach, does not seem like sweater/jacket weather to me. |
I used Wunderground, too. Does well here in the US. Later wondered if they were talking about the same country, :-)).
For example. Our hotel had internet, so looked up the forecast for CM. It was in the 50's and with a solid, grey overcast. WG said that it was in the 60's and partly cloudy. All the hotel rooms have AC and no heat, not surprisingly. When the temp remains in the 50's and 60's for days at those high humidities, the rooms get chilly after a while. We were glad we brought long-johns to sleep in. Don't misunderstand me. I'd go back to CM in an eye blink it's a wonderful place....but better prepared for possible chilly weather. |

Guess it all depends on you but ... I have found (rain forest in Venezuela for example) -- that in hot climates a cool night (50's to 60's) can seem a lot cooler. I appreciated having a sweater in Chiang Mai and if you're going on the river, I'd want a windbreaker. It's just too easy to get a cold with big temp swings like that daily -- and who wants to get sick on vacation?? |
I was at the Anantara in December. It was cool in the late evenings and early mornings, but hot during the day. You might want a light wrap, but I had no weather that I would call "cold" (I live in Seattle).
I like www,weatherbase.com |
I guess that was our problem. We in the desert SW think the humidity is 'icky' when it gets to 40%. And, 50's to 60's @ 20% humidity does not feel cool.
Guess I should have remembered wearing down on the Oregon coast in August. |
