Weather and hotels in Bangkok

Is the weather in Bangkok and the beaches nice in December? I have Starwood points, which Sheraton would be best for seeing sights, restaurants, shopping?

Best time of year to be here! Usually around 20 degree Celsius during the daytime and around 12 degree at night.

December average high/low in Bangkok is 31/21 Celsius or 87/70 Fahrenheit. There is very little rain. At the end of last Dec. it was hot but not humid. There was a breeze in Bangkok and the buildings give some shade. When I toured Ayutthaya, it was hot and sunny so I was happy that the driver kept umbrellas in the car.

weather is the best of the year but it will still be hot and humid....there are 2 sheratons....the sheraton grande is newer and better located for shopping end eating and the skytrain...the orchid is however on the river which is preferred by many of us...the hotel is however dated and not very thai....it is good for shopping as the river city shopping center is next door...the skytrain makes it easy to get around bkk so location is not all that different no matter where you stay....15 minute walk or 8 minute boat ride to skytrain from orchid or a short walk from grande to skytrain....

Best time weather wise is November thru Feb. I'd avoid the December 15- January 10th if possible as the place is at its most crowded and prices are much higher. Worst time is Christmas/New Year.

Thanks for the replies. This is good news, we will probably go in early December. Glorialf: that was going to be my next question so thanks for the advice. I was worried about holidays or Thai holidays and the crowds/prices being raised.

rhkkmk: thanks for the hotel advice. We were leaning towards the Royal Orchid because of the river/sights but now after reading your post and others about the two Sheratons I'm not so sure!

sea--- a fun thing that many of us do is to split out time in different hotels...would you consider that...some on the river and some on sukhumvit....if so end on the river for the best last impression of bkk, not of the hotel (had to get that last dig in)...

I stayed in the Grande last September and it was wonderful, big rooms, walkin closet, great breakfast, beautiful tropical pool. I am booked there again for 4 nights this September.

That is a good compromise. Think I'll check out both. Good to know there is convenient transportation next to the Grande as well. Thanks everyone.
