We booked Anantara
We'll be doing their three day Mahout Discovery package the first week of June.
As this is the first reservation we've confirmed for our trip, it's all beginning to seem very real and exciting! |
You will love the Anantara!
|
don't miss the opium museum right across the street from the hotel!!
please write us a detailed report upon your return... |
try to fit in a cooking class as well...it was the highlight of our stay there...
|
rhk - do you recommend a class there over one in BKK?

I would definitely recommend the cooking class at the Anantara. It is excellent. It includes a trip to the market in Chiang Sean. There are some good clooking classes in Bangkok (the Blue Elephant comes highly recommended). I haven't done that one so I can't compare.

i ahve not taken one in bkk but i found the anantara's to be comprehensive and most of all fun and it included a visit to the local market....it was also cheaper at that time than in bkk...there were only 3 of us the day we did it...
the a/c kitchen area is just for the class and is excellent and well set up with seperate staions for each student... |
If you are going to be in Chiang Mai, then you might consider doing your cooking class there with Yui www.alotofthai.com. She charges 1/3 the price of the Anantara for a standard join in class with a market vist. We did a private class with a custom menu and market visit, a 10 hour day there, for just over US$100.00 total, including a big tip for her, and it was outstanding.
|
KimJapan - I remember your rave about your class. We will defintely contact her today, as our time at Anantara is fairly booked, but we're spending a few extra days in CM.

We were thrilled with our cooking class at the Anantara, and have prepared both Pad Thai and green curry several times (to rave revies) since we've been home.
