Wat Arun and Wat Pho
Can anyone give me a reasonable estimate of how long I should expect to tour each of these wats? I don't know if one would "zip" through in an hour or spend 1/2 a day at each location.
Thanks! |
Although I wouldn't "zip" through either if I were you but Wat Arun certainly would not need half a day but is well worth visiting. Wat Pho is part of the big Grand Palace complex and half a day in the whole complex would not be out of the question . I recommend an independent visit rather than an organised tour mainly to allow you to have a great massage at Wat Pho. It is recommended...you can pay for half an hour or a full hour. I was a bit cautious so paid for half an hour but I wish I had had the full hour!Have fun!

Wat Po, along with the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha might take half a day total. (Wat Po is close to the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, but isn't actually part of that complex) Wat Arun might take an hour or so, depending on what you want to see and do.

I guess I should have provided a little more info. We will have already visited the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaeo as part of our organized tour. After our tour ends, my daughter and I will have a few extra days in Bangkok and a couple of days on Koh Samui. I'd like to visit Wat Arun & Wat Pho (including the massage although not necessarily the same day as the wat visit), but I didn't know how much time to estimate for these tours.
Thanks for the info!! |
You might want to allocate 1/2 day for seeing both Wats. I'd do Wat Arun first, Wat Pho and then a massage. 1/2 day total. I'd check opening and closing times to make sure the logistics work.

Gpanda, thank you so much for your response. That is EXACTLY what I was hoping to find out. Now I know that we still have time to do other things that day -- like SHOP!! :-)
Thanks again! |
As noted many times on this board, BKK is hot. You might want to do these Wats in the morning, return to your hotel and relax and then reload for a shopping excursion. This is all dependent upon where you are staying and where you want to shop.
