Vising two countries

Someone asked earlier what your one favorite country would be to visit for a month. Everyone had differing ideas. Now my question is if you had a month-would you visit two countries or stick to one. I actually have been to Thailand, but it was so long ago. I loved it, and want to come back. I have heard so much about Myanmar and it being so less touristy. I am trying to decide if going to both countries and moving from place to place would be relaxing or not. To the people who have done that-would you reccomend it? Thanks for any advice.

I'm someone who would always prefer spending all my time in one country or at least most of it. Burma is incredible but I would spend real time there. If you want to go to both countries I would strongly urge you to spend 3 weeks in Burma which enables you to get beyond the standard temples and sites and really learn about the country and its various cultures. Then I'd spend a week in Bangkok. Actually I'd fly to Bangkok, spend three days, go to Burma for 3 weeks (get a car and driver) and then return to Bangkok for 4 days. That will be a fabulous trip.

Q: Would I move between countries and would I recommend others do that?
A: Yes! and yes.

Q: Is it relaxing moving between places?
A: No, of course not. It is exciting.

Since you already know that you loved Thailand, you could spend two or three weeks there and a week or so in Burma. After you find out on this trip that you also love Burma, then you can plan to go back and spend real time there.

I will state my meaning explicitely: I recommend that you spend "real time" at a place you know you will love while also spending some time exploring a new place.

Unless, of course, you just want to flirt with your old love and move on to a new potential love, then that would be a good way to go also.

Rather than focus on how many countries- if we had a month we would likely visit 2-4 cities which could span a couple of countries. We would spend no more than 2 weeks in any one city- and in some cases it could be less. Our trips usually last only 2 weeks. Places where we have spent all of our time in one city have been Bangkok, Hong Kong, Sydney and Manila. On another trip we spent 2 weeks exploring Singapore and KL.
