visa for India

Has anyone gotten a visa for India directly from the consulate in Houston, TX.? Were there any problems?
Thanks!

Yes, I have. There were no problems. Just show up with passport and cash!

Thanks for your response, Jane. Since I live in Arkansas, do you think getting the Visa by mail will be O.K.?I have had good results by mail for visas to Egypt and Cambodia.

I don't know about mail. But--it should be o.k. Have you checked the Houston India Consulate's web site? We live 3 hours away from Houston so we just drove up.

How much is an Indian visa for Americans? How long does it take to get?

I believe the single entry visa is $50. My sister just got hers same day (last Friday) at the San Francisco consulate.

Sorry, just checked the website, it's actually $60 for the 6 month tourist visa for US passport holders.
