Visa

We're traveling to Viet Nam, Tailand, and Cambodia. Our tour company sent out info that we had to have visas (makes sense) and information on an agency which would be happy to get them for us - at great expense. I've heard that it's possible to get them on entry to the countries. Any knowledge out there?
Thanks

VN visas must be obtained or arranged in advance. It is very easy to do yourself. Visas for Cambodia and Laos can be obtained upon arrival at the airport. A visa is not required for Thailand unless you are staying more than a month (unless you enter via land, then it is 15 days).

I am assuming you are traveling on A US, Canadian, or European passport. If not, you may have different requirements.

In case you live near a city with a Vietnames consulate or Embassy it is a very easy process to obtain one.

Cambodia you get at the border. I paid a few $ more for the boat operator to get it. I went from Saigon to Phnom Penh by boat.

If you don't live near a city where you can apply in person you can express mail your application to the embassy, together with your passport. It does save paying an agency.

I just did it, you send in a money order to the embassy in Washington DC, the website is www.vietnamembassy.us
