Vietnam Sim Card
 
Has anyone bought a Vietnam sim card?? How much did it cost?? How much did it cost to call the US?? Thanks!

i can only tell you my recent experience with indonesia which might perhaps be similar.... the sim card cost $5... the calls to usa for cents per minute.... in over 2 weeks we did not even use $10 and we called everyone we could think of to use up the deposit...

But once I arrived I discovered that they are much cheaper in Vietnam. I did not use it to call the US because I found that Skype (free!) was much better to use. Most internet cafes have video and talk via Skype capabilities.

I bought one while there and don't remember the exact cost but it was cheap but I only used my phone to call the US a couple of times and didn't use up all the time.

I bought a Mobiphone SIMcard in HCMC last year for 60,000 VND (about $3). I don't remember what calls cost, but I didn't need to top it up in the couple of weeks I was there. I used it for domestic calls only.

The operators are Mobiphone, Vinaphone, and Viettel and they all have websites.
