Vietnam loose leaf visa
I believe I can get a loose leaf visa from the Embassy of Vietnam by sending just a photocopy of my passport, rather than the whole passport. ( I'd prefer not to send the passport). The fee is $70. Has anyone gotten a looseleaf visa? Any downside to doing it this way?

I'm a US citizen and I got a loose leaf visa several years ago. No problems. Just follow the instructions on the Vietnam Embassy web page.

I know of several people in the US who have gotten loose-leaf visas. I don't know of any downside to doing it this way; it took the same length of time as sending in your passport.

Thanks, Jane and Kathy. I think I will go this route.

Well, Shelley, you can get a visa online without sending your passport away at all.
www.Vietnam-visa.com are the people I used. No drama. There are many others. |
Thanks, dogster. I was going to get a pre approved visa on arrival, as you suggest, but then read Bob's Vietnam trip report where he said that the line at the airport for this type of visa was very long, and he would not do preapproved visa on arrival again.

visa on arrival was sort of annoying... they are very very slow in processing... i would not do it again
