Vietnam -> Angkor Wat -> Bangkok -> Beaches Itinerary
Hello, I'm planning to have a 24days round trip in South East Asia in August. My idea is to visit Vietnam in 12/13 days (starting the tour from HaNoi), 3 days for Angkor Wat in Cambodgia, 3 days in Bangkok and 5/6 in Ko Samui. This is my itinerary for Vietnam Day 1) Ha Noi Day 2) Ha Noi Day 3) Ha Noi -> Halong Bay Day 4) Halong Bay -> Ha Noi -> (flight) -> Da Nang -> Hoi An Day 5) Hoi An Day 6) Hoi An -> Hue Day 7) Hue Day 8) Huw -> Ho Chi Minh Day 9) Ho Chi Minh Day 10) Ho Chi Minh -> Mekong Delta Day 11) Mekong Delta Day 12) Mekong Delta -> Ho Chi Minh -> Siem Reap Day 13) Siem Reap / Angkor Wat Day 14) Angkor Wat Day 15) Angkor Wat -> Bangkok Day 16) Bangkok Day 17) Bangkok Day 18) Bangkok -> Ko Samui Day 19) Ko Samui Day 20) Ko Samui Day 21) Ko Samui Day 22) Ko Samui Day 23) Ko Samui Day 24) Ko Samui -> Bangkok -> .. ->HOME What do you think/suggest? In case I would be able to spend in Vietnam 2 more days what will you suggest? Moreover, I was considering to use the services of a travel agency in Angkor Wat and Vietnam, do you have a reliable travel agency to suggest? Thanks in advance. Daniele |
You don't need a travel agent for your itinerary. If you really want one for Vietnam I have used Tonkin Travel successfully (for a trip to Sapa).
Hanoi deserves more time - I would take some from the beach and some from Hoi An, which is very touristy. If you want to visit the Delta I would plan to go by boat on to Phnom Penh, and from there by bus or car to Siem Reap. Get Dawn Rooney's guide to Angkor and then decide how much time you need - I would say three days/four nights minimum. How are you getting from SR to Bangkok? I hear that the overland route has improved. |
I also like Tonkin travel..
the delta gets very mixed results |
Note that Hue airport is temporarily closed. You'll have to return to Da Nang to fly out. I'd add a day to Siem Reap and Hanoi.

You don't have three days at Angkor, you have one full day and two partial days. Three days somewhere means four nights.
I think this would be a better trip is you did some editing. Since the Hue airport is closed, I'd suggest you cut DaNang/HoiAn/Hue, flying from Hanoi to HCMC. That would allow you to add days to Siem Reap and Hanoi. |
Hi, I have a wonderful driver for Siem Reap!!Let me know if u r interested!!!Ive used him 3 times now.

Hello, we are also planning Vietnam trip with Cambodia at the end. We haven't decided how to do it yet. I did contact Tonkin and got no reply, so would hesitate to use them.
|
If you did not get a response from Tonkin you probably used an incorrect email address. They are very prompt in answering inquiries.
|
Marija, I was on their official website.
|
Try contacting them using [email protected]. They were very easy to work with.
|
And make sure to check your spam folder.
|
I agree-I had a reply in less than 12 hours from Tonkin and found them very easy to work with--so far.

Hello,
thanks for all your answers. @thursdaysd: I thought it was better to flight from Ho Chi Min to Siem Riep but yes I would like to visit Delta.. @ Kathie: Thanks I'll spend one more night in Siem Riep but I will not cut the Central Vietnam.. What about NOT including Sapa? |
The train trip up to Sapa was the second worst I've ever done, and I've done a bunch. However, the market is quite good, and if the clouds lift the scenery is excellent. You would have to trade beach time for Sapa and only you can make that choice.

Hi - may I also suggest adding more time in Siem Reap. There are so many magnificent temples and you may not get so see very much in your short visit. The hotel where we stayed, Navutu Dreams, included a private tuk tuk driver who was very helpful in taking us around and making suggestions. Here's our blog post with info about sightseeing and the hotel: http://latitudeb.com/cambodia/.
