Vietnam & Cambodia in 6 days - possible?
 

Okay, I don't rally plan on doing these two countries in 6 days. Basically, I will be in the Philippines over the Winter holidays and we are looking to do a 5-6 day side trip. My girlfriend really wants to go to Angkor Wat (as do I) and so we are thinking of going there for 2-3 days and maybe Vietnam for 2-3 days. From what I've been reading, Hanoi seems like the place in Vietnam I'd most like to see because it's not as urban as HCMC and has possibly more cultural sites to see. Of course, doing two countries adds to the complexity as we'd have to manage to fly from Manila to Hano (if possible) then Siem Reap, then back to Manila (again, if possible).

For Angkor Wat, I've seen books talking about spending as much as a week there. I frankly think I'd go insane looking at the temples that long. I was in Sukhothai in Thailand for two days and felt like I was burning out at the end. I'm sure I'll need more advice on this trip but thought I'd kick it off with the broad itinerary to see what people think. I don't want to give either country short shrift, just want to make the most of what time we have.

i would plan on 4 days max at angkor....how about flying to bkk and spending 2 days and then to angkor and back to bkk and then home??

too much to do both in 6 days plus all the travelling to get there

3 or 4 days in Angkor and 2 days in PP.

I really wouldn't want to try two different countries in that short amount of time. Gloria's suggestion is a good one. I'm not sure what the flight connections from the Phillipines are like. It make take you a whole day to get to Cambodia and a whole day back. I expect the connections would be through HCMC. This may also contribute to your decision.

(PS I agree about Hanoi - a lovely city. Maybe next trip...)

I would agree with Gloria spend your whole 6 days in Cambodia.

Vietnam is great but with such a short trip I would save it for another time.
