Viet Nam in Jan or Feb.?

Now that we are back from Thailand and Cambodia (which we loved) I am starting to plan next year's winter vacation. We want to travel (no beaches) for 14 days on the ground. I was thinking of Viet Nam, . We would like to go to Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, Hue, and Saigon. I can't figure out from weather base if we will run into rainy weather on part of this itinerary. I do not mind the cold, but would prefer not to be wet. If this itinerary is not good for a dry Feb. vacation, are there any other suggestions for SEA. Thanks.

not sure agbout VN, but any of the other countries in the region would be quite fine too: myanmar, laos, cambodia, bali---i think you would really like bali, singapore, malaysia....

I was just in Vietnam in January...Hot in the South (HCMC) and cool in the north...Most rain was in Hue..In Hoi An it was drizzling, but still the temp was nice (not too hot)...Halong Bay was quite chilly...and also drizzling!!!

Next time we go to SE Asia, we will try Laos..

What would be the best month to do my VN itinerary? I think we will save it for then. I looked up the weather in Bali and Borneo in the winter and it looks wet. Is this correct?

I just returned from Vietnam and I think this time is very nice for visiting. We did want beach, so we spent days in Nha Trang, which were beautiful. I would recommend middle to end of Feb into March - still not too hot but the rain/drizzle will be subsiding. Halong Bay was a bit chilly for us, no need for a coat, just a light sweater, but I did not swim, which is something you may want to do. My tour guide explained that in Hanoi there is a bit of a fog/cloudy mass that sits over the city for most of Jan/ Feb.
Regarding Bali, I wanted to go there but research said Feb is their rainy season - much better is April through October. I just saw on the news that they had massive mudslides there in some parts, which confirms to me that the weather is less than ideal there now.
