Vertigo
Been recommended this restaurant, but don't want to overload our stay in BKK with high end/concept restaurants (we're already reserved at BED,etc). Is this a must-do dinner spot or would a drink suffice? We also plan on seeing the Sky Bar or 77th floor of Sky Building (sorry don't hv my notes with me so not sure of exact names).
|
For my money, I'd skip Vertigo and go to Sky Bar, just for a drink. I think the view is better at Sky Bar.

Is Skybar at the same building that Vertigo? If not, where it is?
Many thanks. |
Sky Bar is in State Tower, near the river. It overlooks the Shangri-La, with the Penn just across the river.
|
Sirocco, which is the restaurant that hosts Sky Bar, was the best dining experience my wife and I have ever had...anywhere.

sky bar is on silom and vertigo is on sathorn...i too would skip vertigo
|
I agree the view is better at the State Tower. (Actually found it a little scary!)
But there's nowhere to sit unless you're having dinner so I prefer Vertigo! Sorry! |
But if you are seated at Vertigo, be sure to stay away from the AC blower! The hot air blowing on you is awful.
There are some tables at State Tower but Sky Bar is a "stand up" bar, yes. Carol |
For dining, I like The Dome better than Sirocco. Both are at the top of State Tower on Silom. The view is better in The Dome as well.
Vertigo is nice if you are staying at the Banyon Tree. |
can you tell me please what the food is like at The Dome and Siricco and the prices?
|
Sirocco was about $125 for two people without drinks. We had western food (e.g. steak).

The Dome was about $400 for three people with a couple bottles of wine. The wine was about $100 a bottle. The food & wine were fantastic. The food is mostly a European mix: Italian, French, etc.
