Vacation in December to Thailand
Hello -
My wife and I are taking a vacation to Thailand in December for 3 weeks. We are interested in a relaxed beach type of vacation, staying away from crowds and wild nightlife as much as possible. We would like to visit 2-3 different islands / resorts (not including Bangkok for a night or two). We are looking for the best place for the best price (not the most expensive but not hostels either). We have lots of Starwood and Marriott points so if any opinions are surrounding those resorts, that would be OK also but it doesn't have to focus on them either. Thanks!! |
Are you talking about this December? December is the busiest time of the year. Many places will already be sold out.
Are you only interested in beaches? Do you want some time in the north? And do give us a per night cost range so we can be more helpful. Weather-wise, you'll want to be on teh Phuket side of Thailand. |
Hello Kathie -
Yes - this december. Interested in being either very close or on the beach. Could possibly spend time in the North if we could get from place to place and the weather is good. If not using Starwood or Marriott points, then around 100-150 USD per night |
lots of options for using points in thailand....bkk, phuket, samui, krabi, pattaya...
a nice place to look at is koh chang, but no marriott or starwoods there....barali is a nice place if you eat next door at the tropicana (better food)....the amari emerald cove is perfect for you also... samui is laid back and might be perfect for you....there is a new rennaissance conversion hotel there...we stayed at the peace resort in a sea front bungalow which was fantastic... |
Bob, December weather in Samui isn't so good.
The weather in the north will also be good. Flights are relatively inexpensive and reliable. I'd encourage you to think about experiencing some of the Thai culture, which means not just beaches. Bangkok is an amazing city, and the north will give you a different perspective. |
