Using battery chargers and electronic readers in SE Asia
Does anyone have any suggestions about what is needed to charge an electronic book in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Also, I have a battery charger which I use to charge batteries for our cameras. Are the plugs in these four countries 2 round in-line plugs? Would 4 and 5* hotels have converters to lend their guests?
Thanks for any help. I've been unsuccessful at getting advice - especially for electronic readers which will have our guide books on them! Gailport

Yes, your hotels will have adapters you can borrow. Chargers are almost always converters, so you just need a plug adaptor.

Why don't you get your own plug adaptors and take them with you just in case? They only cost about $3-4.

You may not need a converter (I never have) and would just need a plug adapter. Your hotel will *likely* have one, but as sf7307 said, they're cheap and lightweight so why not just buy a set of adapters to be sure you have them.

The converter is the heavy part, the adaptors are pretty small and light weight. Look at the battery charger and the block on the reader cord. If they're dual voltage they'll say something similar to "INPUT: AC 100V - 240V, 50/60Hz". I've never seen a dual voltage item that needed a converter.

Great information. Thanks so much. I have a set of plugs and I will take them all - you are right, they are small. It is the converter which is heavy. Someone told me today that many of the newer hotels have 120V in the rooms!

Around the countries that have native 220v I have only seen the 120v outlets in the BATHROOMS but they are for shavers only and will not have enough amps to charge other devices.
