Hi, Lost trying to apply for the Indian Visas for my kids and husband. we are in florida and so our center is Atlanta. Any one have any info on Atlanta???
I almost made the mistake of going through travisa... before my husband caught the mistake!!! While filling all the papers and documents for like hundredth time we noticed that Atlanta requires biometric..!!! and guess what! they can only be done at Atlanta...!!! So what now do we drive up to atlanta and get our visas, does anyone out there have any idea? HELP anyone have any info for me? |
What's the mistake about going through Travisa? They still provide expedited visa service for India...albeit for a bit of a premium. We used them last month and got our visas back in a matter of less than 2 weeks from mailing to receipt.

While India says it is going to implement visa on arrival, we have not yet had any reports of someone successfully entering India in this way. Given the history of this, I'd want to confirm that the system is up and running before counting on it.

I just recently started the process to get an Indian visa. I visited there in 2009 and 2010 and the process was comparatively painless. However, this time I not only had to fill out an application with my Social Security number, but was informed by the accompanying checklist of things to submit that I should include copies of my bank statements for the most recent three months, since I am a retiree. The checklist stated that this was also a requirement for housewives, students and freelancers. I canceled my tour.

Booley, Because my DH is retired, we made copies of our bank statement to bring to the local DC office when we applied last month. The agent who took our application didn't ask for the information and when we told him we had brought copies, he told us it wasn't needed. If you can apply in person, likely you'll get the same response.

It looks like the VOA was extended to USA as of Nov 27, 2014. Now it would be great to find out whether someone has actually been able to use it!
