Udaipur - India's City of Dreams
I am curious to know if anyone thinks this is a MUST DO while in India.
Thanks! :) |
Stacey, tough to reply without knowing the rest of your itinerary. Udaipur is a beautiful city and has some gorgeous hotels incl Udai Vilas and Lake Palace. However, if u have time for just 1 stop in Rajasthan I think I would reco Jaipur - better sightseeing and shopping.

I am so sorry - suddenyl realized I do indeed know your whole itinerary. A brief answer is if u have seen jaipur well u have a good sense of Rajasthan and could consider doing something else. IMO a great deal of the charm people have exp in Udaipur is courtesy one of the hotels I mentioned so if u do not plan to stay there u could plan something diff. Have u considered Khajuraho?

IMO Udaipur is so much better than Jaipur

During my recent trip to India my only regret was not to have planned more time in Udaipur, we were there for just a day an a half and it was too short.

I agree with Alejandra. Preferred Udaipur to Jaipur - and nothing to do with the standard of hotels. But if you plan on visiting Amber fort outside Jaipur then the equation evens up. My favorite places in Rajasthan (but who knows how they have changed) are Jaiselmer and Mt Abu.

Hi,
Udaipur is great. We just (November 2003) spent there four days and nights and it was wonderful. If you can afford it go to the Lake Palace Hotel.GREAT !!!! Miky |
