Dear Fodorities guys!
I will arrive at DPS around 11:30 a.m and go straight Ubud to stay 3 nights, in this first day i would like to get a 1/2 day tour around Ubud, Is it a good idea or the best thing is to walk around Ubud in this 1/2 first day? I will have more 2 full days around Ubud to get day tours. tnk very much again! warmly, Juliano |
Walking works the best really, although many of the surrounding craft towns require transportation

As Karen points out, walking is the way to go, and it's easy to do in and around Ubud. Depending on your interests, you can spend days seeing different Hindu temples, art galleries, etc. I really enjoyed Pura Taman Saraswati and Museum Puri Lukisan in town, and the Neka Art Museum not too far away. The possibilities for day tours are also endless. Take a look at my trip report (just click on my user name) for some info on what we did on our recent trip, and read trip reports from others. There's a wealth of info here.

I'd spend the half day getting oriented and seeing some of the nearby sites. What's walkable really depends on where you're staying, but at any rate it's easy enough to arrange transportation, either for several hours or just to one destination.
Every where you go someone will approach you and offer "transport, transport?" Just settle the price before you set off. Ask at your resort or the Ubud Tourism Information Office for information about ceremonies, performances or festivals that may be taking place while you're there. So, yes, stroll around, have something to eat, do some shopping, pop into a few museums, temples, have a massage or spa treatment, get yourself onto Ubud time, which is relaxed and serene. |
Hi Juliano,
Three days in Ubud are a good choice to get a feeling of this arty and kind of magical place. We did a similar itinerary, walking around a lot on our own (be careful with the monkeys) and meeting many nice people in workshops and in front of their houses. See and read more about, how we experienced Ubud here: http://konniandmatt.blogspot.com/200...-nov-2009.html Have a great time on Bali, Happy Travels! Cheers, Konni, www.konniandmatt.blogspot.com |
