Ubud Hotels, Pita Maha, Maya or others?

Going to Ubud in a few weeks. Any recommendations of a luxury hotel close to town. Four Season, Begawan Giri & Alilia (Chedi) are too far from town. I have been to them already. I would like to stay closer to Ubud. Appreciate any recommendations.
Aloha,

Pita Maha is stunning and very well located...Waka also has a city location I think - www.wakaexperience.com.

We stayed at Maya Ubud one year ago in July. It is too far to walk to town but there is a shuttle that runs frequently during the day - gets you into town in about 5 minutes or less. The pool villas are very nice.

I was just in Bangkok....at the Metropolitan Hotel...a Como hotel... and met the Director of Marketing for Asia who happens to be Indonesian and lives on Bali. She told me about Como's brand new property called UMA that is supposedly fabulous and in Ubud area in Kedewatan. The website is uma.como.bz The hotel's address is Banjar Lungisiakan...Kedewatan...Ubud...Gianyar 80571 Bali,Indonesia.I love this area of Bali and my best friend always stays in Kedewatan area and loves it,too. There is a photo of UMA in the recent issue of Travel and Leisure magazine. The Director of Marketing had a whole portfolio on the hotel sent to my room at the Metropolitan Hotel and I read the tons of pages on the place and it looks and sounds great! The introductory price is $145.If you stay there, please post your experiences of the place. Happy Travels!

From the web site at least, the Uma seems to be very similar in design and feel to Maya Ubud, although it is about one fifth the size. Location is about the same distance as Maya Ubud from downtown. You can find even better rates (about 12% less) on www.balidiscovery.com.

Bali: Ubud Hotels - Thank you all for responding. The Uma and Maya both look very nice but contemporary and not too balinese. It appears that Pita Maha is more boutique and balinese. I can't decide. We are staying at the Conrad for 6 nights as well, which looks contemporary. We have hotels like this in Hawaii I was wanting something more balinese do you think I should stay with Pita Maha. I love the Begawan Giri but I don't want to stay out that far from town. Help. I appreciate any and all replys.

Sunnie we stayed at Ibah the website does not do the propoerty justice it is fabulous and very intimate...I've mentioned it before on the forum so you should be able to search for my previous comments.
It's down near the river and a short walk to town although there's a shuttle that runs regularly too.

I loved the architecture and the setting which were gorgeous.

I would go with the Pita Maha based on your desire for something more Balinese. Be sure to check out the great rates on Balidiscovery.com.
