Appreciate recommendations for a six night stay at a place in town or not too far away.

Looking for:

pool for laps
garden setting
quiet
$75 to $125 per night
nice breakfast
Balinese architecture
friendly staff

Thinking about Ketut's Place, Komeneka, Ubud Village Hotel.

What are your thoughts about staying in town or outside. I do like to be able to step outside my hotel and start exporing, but could curb that urge if the setting was very special and transport was easy to find.

see if you can get in at alam shanti....we stayed there recently and it was fantastic in every way....we had the gannaga room, which is their #1 room...it has everything you have asked for...see the pics on my thread part II

We stayed at the Bali Spirit hotel which fits your criteria except for maybe the breakfast - the breakfast was rather average rather than nice.

The hotel is located south of Ubud in a smaller village - so there are things to walk to easily, but it is a bit of a walk into Ubud itself. Transport is easy to find - the hotel has a shuttle (free if you go on schedule, 10,000 ruppiah for an unscheduled trip) and there are plenty of taxis in Ubud center.

Look at the website for Kajane Mua and the Toya Villas, the midrange accommodations there. We've stayed there twice and had our own private pool, big enough for small laps. It's listed as higher than the price you want, but we found that they were willing to go down significantly in price for a several night stay. It included breakfast delivered to your patio dining table, rides to restaurants and perfomances, and I got a great massage right at my own poolside.

The Alam Shanti is wonderful. the pool is slightly shorter than an Olympic pool and laps will be multitudinous.

I stayed ar the Ubud Village well within your price range and excellent rooms and position.

degas, we stayed at he Ubud Village and it meets your criteria pretty well. Good central location and for the money (I think we paid US$72 including tax and service) the setting is nice and rooms are spacious and very private, with a small courtyard in front.

Our only complaint was a non-functioning shower, but we were immediately upgraded when we reported the problem. Our bathroom was certainly nice, with a narrow gap running the length of the external stone wall, allowing rain to fall onto the small internal garden below - but when it did rain, the splashing resulted in a wet marble floor that required some caution. We had to ask for a bathmat.

Friendly staff are almost a given in Bali. I didn't pay much attention to the pool, but I think it's probably big enough for your purposes. Hot buffet breakfast with omelette stand, and complimentary afternoon tea.

It's a downhill walk to the Monkey Forest - if you're lucky enough to be there during a festival, try to visit the temple. Plenty of good, very reasonably priced restaurants along Monkey Forest Road. And joy of joys, not a fast food place or service station in sight.

I have some memory of Ketut's Place and Ubud Village. I did not stay in them, but I visited while looking into a business opportunity I was researching while backpacking my way around. They fit your requirements.

I have stayed at this private villa...http://www.99bali.com/villas/villanaga/index.cfm. Not the same as staying in a hotel but you may want to consider.
