U/A flight to bkk

travelocity just sent me an offer of an all inclusive flt from bos to bkk for $781...great deal for spring

kuranosuke Feb 24th, 2006 08:43 AM

sooooooo, you going? pick me up on the way.

Kathie Feb 24th, 2006 08:52 AM

United has had a great sale on flights to Asia. The only problem is, your travel must be completed by March 31... wrong time for me, unfortunately!

rhkkmk Feb 24th, 2006 09:56 AM

ken...will be there in 15 minutes....are you ready...

plan to be in bkk the end of november for the GTG with some folks?? gpanda and us for two and i am sure more...

kuranosuke Feb 24th, 2006 10:39 AM

bob, all my bags are packed, i'm ready to go....

the bob and andy(previously addressed as grandpa in error) show in bangkok with orgy sprinkled in...should be quite a soiree. very late nov. or early dec. might be doable. gotta work on getting hanuman, tangata, james, mike, and the other locals there.

rhkkmk Feb 24th, 2006 07:12 PM

all are of course welcome....kathie will be in the neighborhood too...

JamesA Feb 25th, 2006 12:22 AM

I've been told by those boss that we must make all efforts to attend but family will be along but all the better!

JamesA Feb 25th, 2006 12:27 AM

Bob, just to add about your AF flights, last time I used them was several years back on the BKK to Vietnam sectors, always found them 'superb', food was 'excellent' and the crew very friendly, you will probably be on their 777 which has seatback TVs, they have a mix of movies and programs and many of the french movies have English sub-titles also, although the flights were short hops last one just had the TV's on the 340 and the movies etc were quite a pleasant change.
It's worth joing the AF program as they have rewards with Accor hotels which is good for Novotels and Sofitels which as you know there are plenty of in Asia.

rhkkmk Feb 25th, 2006 05:30 AM

our flight is airbus all the way from boston to bkk---345's

should be decent...it is award travel through northwest miles...

Gpanda Feb 25th, 2006 05:40 AM

Did Bob mention that he has an unbelievably long layover in Paris? This raisews the distinct possiblity of further unpleasantness between the French and Americans.

Bob, are you using NW miles to fly to Thailand? If so, do you have any tips on getting flights? I'm trying to use our miles from last trip to Thailand to go Providence to Calgary in July, but all seats come up at 50,000 miles needed. I've been checking with NW weekly and still no 25,000 mile seats. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

rhkkmk Mar 1st, 2006 06:35 PM

yes i am using N/W miles...but it took 3 phone calls...for the first time i found them not helpful at all...finally a nice lady and wound up with this...

can't imagine that you would get tickets for 25000...to canada??

oh i just looked and see it is possible...

i find that doing it early is sometimes difficult....keep calling back..

any thai plans coming up?

Guenmai Mar 1st, 2006 06:54 PM

Kathie...yeah...wrong time for me,too... that's why we've got to get to retirement as quickly as possible! Too bad I have so many more years before that...unless I hit the power ball lotto...then look out. Happy Travels!

Kathie Mar 1st, 2006 07:19 PM

Guenmai, yes I'm awaiting the time when I can take off whenever there is a great airfare sale. Alas! not yet!

simpsonc510 Mar 2nd, 2006 05:28 AM

When I go to UA's site to check for ORD to BKK, all I can get are flts for about $3000 by way of Europe!!! I guess I should sign up with travelocity to send me offers!! I hope to go in May but have no set plans as yet. I'd love to get a $781 ticket (plus upgrade cost). But HOW??
Carol

Kathie Mar 2nd, 2006 05:53 AM

Carol, I get these offers directly from United. I don't think I have my email from them for this offer anymore, but they specified that you had to look for a certain type of fare, like "Sale Asia" or something. Usually, the sale fares are not upgradeable, but I'd call the international award travel desk and ask. I once was able to upgrade on a $699 fare to Hong Kong!

simpsonc510 Mar 2nd, 2006 06:08 AM

Thanks Kathie.
I did just get an email from United about fares to Japan. Sounded interesting, but I didn't investigate it any further. I would agree that calling the number on the back of my "premier executive" card is the best option. I (finally) did that for my last trip, leaving out my local travel agent... sorry Renee... and she is really good too.. But premier exec does carry a lot of weight. I may just call to see what's available for May.

UA now has a sale to Bangkok (travel before May 5)...but currently their website reservation system is down.

simpsonc510 Mar 2nd, 2006 05:44 PM

Jim
Where did you see UA's special to BKK??? I'm serious when I say that all I get are flights via London and/or Frankfurt Germany. The option to fly Ord to Nrt and Nrt to BKK is NOT even showing when I put in my dates.
Carol

simpsonc510 Mar 2nd, 2006 05:49 PM

OK, I just saw the special fares box on the UA web site. But, once again, when I put in the dates, it gave me a fare of over $3000 by way of Europe!!! I don't get it!!! If I ask for fares on travelocity, I get UA as an option for my dates, and the fare is about $1300. Is it a UA web site glitch??
